Common questions

How do I pass a plant on? Choose what to include - the origin, the family line, the story entries - and Cuttings builds a single link you send however you like. What you see in the preview is exactly what the link carries; there is no second, fuller copy behind it.

Someone sent me a link and nothing happened. The link has to be opened on a device with Cuttings installed. If it opens and is refused, it was written by a version this one does not know how to read - a link it cannot read is refused rather than guessed at, so nothing is imported half-right. Opening the same link twice never creates a duplicate plant.

Is a plant record an official document? No. It is a keepsake - a record you keep, not a certificate. It is not a certification, a verification, or anything phytosanitary, and it has no standing for moving plants across a border.

I archived a plant. Did I lose its offspring? No. Archiving a plant never erases the records of what came from it. Its family line stays intact.

Can I back everything up? Yes - export your archive to a file and keep it. Restoring is additive: it adds what is missing and never deletes what the file happens not to contain.

Why won't it name my plant's species? Because a wrong botanical portrait is worse than a neutral one. Illustrations are matched exactly or fall back to a plain cutting - Cuttings never guesses a species, and it does no identification or diagnosis at all.

Where is my data? On your phone, and only there. Cuttings has no networking of any kind. Details in the privacy policy.
